Henderson County United Way Embraces Renewal and Unity
in the Face of Challenges
Henderson County, TX, February 26, 2024–In a period of reflection and rejuvenation, Henderson County United Way (HCUW) is poised to navigate through its current challenges with a renewed sense of purpose and commitment to community service. Over the last half-decade, HCUW has been an unwavering beacon of hope, channeling over $838,000 into diverse initiatives that have significantly bettered the lives of many in our community. Despite facing recent hurdles due to concerns surrounding the actions of two former presidents, HCUW remains steadfast in its mission.
The organization took swift and decisive action by requesting the resignation of the involved past presidents, prioritizing the integrity and ethical standards that HCUW stands for. This move underscores a deep-seated commitment to transparency and accountability, essential pillars that uphold the trust placed in us by the community we serve.
In this moment of introspection, HCUW is thrilled to announce Greg Figueroa as the interim president, steering the organization towards a brighter future. Mr. Figueroa, who joined the board in July 2023, brings a wealth of experience from his 30-year tenure as a CEO and his dedicated service as Mayor Pro Tem and Councilman of Tool, Texas. His decision to join HCUW was driven by a heartfelt desire to contribute positively to the community. Faced with the recent upheavals, Mr. Figueroa's leadership comes at a crucial time, symbolizing hope and the promise of revitalization.
Under Mr. Figueroa's guidance, HCUW is embarking on a comprehensive plan to rejuvenate its board, strengthen its ethical guidelines, and ensure complete transparency regarding board members' backgrounds. This initiative is not just about restoration; it's about setting a new standard of excellence and integrity in serving the needs of our community.
We extend an open invitation to all community members, both longstanding supporters and new friends, to join us in this pivotal journey. Your support, engagement, and faith in our mission are invaluable as we endeavor to rebuild HCUW into a paragon of community service that truly mirrors the values and aspirations of Henderson County.
Let's embrace this opportunity to transform challenges into catalysts for growth and reaffirm our collective dedication to making a meaningful impact in the lives of those we serve.
